Please, sir, may I have another

Sometimes rejection feels GOOD!  Remember how I said something about submitting two stories to markets that were out of my league, but worth the try?  Well, I heard back from one of them this morning.

It was a no.  But a very nice no that encouraged me to submit more.  AND that said they had no doubt I’d find a home for the story they were rejecting.  So, yay!!

Now, the key is to finish the third story I’ve been writing that is similar to those other two in terms of “writing depth” (for lack of a better word) and send it to them.  And, good thing about this next one is that the ending, assuming I can write it well, will have a twist, because they found this one a bit too straight-forward for their tastes.

I am going to relish the taste of “pretty damned close” for at least a day or so before I do what I need to do to ultimately succeed at this, which is WRITE MORE.

(Oh, and this would be the story that my grandmother read and thought really happened somewhere…she must have an even more twisted worldview than I do.  I think crazy things are possible, she thinks they’re already happening.)
